How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
In providing a centralised bespoke website to a UK multiple showing location and consignment details of sub-hauliers movement throughout Europe, the hardwire systems in lorries was proved not to be robust, with faulty and irregular reports.
What was your mission at the outset?
Whist still providing a 90%+ service on all movements, our mission has always been to provide the best service 24/7.
What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacturer?
After 3 years of working with our bespoke system, we decided a re-write was due, which should could then incorporate additional features. The remit in producing a new version, was that it had to be better than the 90% that we had achieved with our original, and real time throughout the whole supply chain, not just in the areas where refrigeration and locations are monitored, ie within depot/cold stores and lorries. This required the design of a portable hardware product that would work through food products and metal/brick walls of vehicles and stores.
The system now provides a real trim tracking solution of goods from the start of production to delivery to the retailer, of all details about the goods during transit. All documents, temperature and light readings, location, vehicles and driver details, stock movements, irrelevant of the number of movements, constantly monitoring for any irregularities. This is all reported through the web site and any anomalies reported directly by SMS to the responsible parties, ie technical or driver, etc. The system also provides an archive of all movements which allow for invoicing and analysis
How many employees?
The company currently employs 4 full time staff and several consultants within software and mobile apps.
How do you advertise your product/service?
Advertising has been limited to present, as just launched and business has been picked up by work of mouth and subscription to trade federations.
What do what do you attribute your success?
The system is unique and its ability to give real time information and highlight critical areas in a supply chain is its success.

We do use accountants and solicitors.

Responsibility is getting the product to market, as good as we can make it.

Have you ever turned down a client?
We will not turn down an enquiry unless the request cannot be modified from the current system without unreasonable cost.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Advise. If you believe that there is a demand for a product, have the time and money to promote it, then you should do it. Don’t regret not having given it a go.
