Corsham Neighbourhood Plan
Thank you to everyone who went to the polls on 14 November to vote in the Corsham Neighbourhood Plan Referendum. The question being asked was ‘Do you want Wiltshire Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Corsham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’ The turnout was 24.6%, with 2,428 electors voting. The overwhelming majority of those who voted, voted ‘yes’ with just 162 voting ‘no’. The Plan has now been ‘made’ by Wiltshire Council and will be used when making decisions and recommendations on planning applications in the area.
Chairman of the Town Council and Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, Councillor Steve Abbott says, ‘It has taken us nearly five years to get to this stage and we are delighted that 93% of those who voted, voted in favour of the Corsham Neighbourhood Plan.’

Business Survey
The Town Council has just undertaken a Town Centre and Parking Survey, asking local residents and visitors for their views on the town, what free parking initiatives would encourage them to use the town centre more often and what events or markets they would like to see. Our next questions will be for businesses, and we hope to launch a survey early in the New Year. The responses will help us with the objectives of the Open for Business theme in our Strategic Plan, so please look out for the online link to that one in January.
Christmas Lights Switch On and Late Night Opening
Friday 6 December sees Corsham’s traditional, family-friendly, festive Christmas Lights Switch On. The fun starts at 5pm, with the lights on at 6pm. Come and enjoy the Christmas Market, live music, entertainment, and a special visit from Father Christmas and his reindeer. A number of the town’s great independent shops will be open late too – and they’re also open late on Thursdays in the run-up to Christmas so why not avoid the crowds and madness of other places and do your Christmas shopping in Corsham?
